professors and service
It’s a good thing that pre-7am on a Sunday is actually still considered Saturday night. Even if you don’t agree, I could probably find some college students that do - especially college students that watched the OSU game that started at 8pm. I probably still could have posted yesterday though. Service. I’ve been thinking about it lately. I’ve had some really good service...

cold beer here
Three things crossed my mind this morning while on the bus. I was thinking what I was going to write about the moment I stepped into the office. It’s five hours later. Let’s hope I didn’t forget. First - I want to send a hats off to CVS in downtown Cleveland. There is a sign directly over there door saying something to the effect of “Attention Tail Gaters - Cold Beer...

failure is too easy
i could make excuses. i could say that i can’t easily access my blog site at work. i could say that it crashes my internet explorer on my work laptop. i could say that i didn’t have enough time because i was actually doing work during the day, had grad school at night and was emailing my professor when I got home to fix my grades. all these would be excuses. i failed! bummer. well,...

new season
it’s a new tv season. i’m sitting here what makes me more lame - watching kid nation, america’s next top model or so you think you can dance. good thing i have a beer in front of me and melissa to my other side. beer and wings are incredible. i feel very fortunate to have a decent towney bar in Euclid with a 30 cent wing night and reasonable beer.

almost missed it
i was just about to fall asleep when i remembered i didn’t post today. darn school and darn work. i gotta get back to posting while i’m at work. it’s hot! we have the air conditioning on. that’s been a wonderful change from my house where I was too cheap to justify having the air on for just myself.  i read the other day that there was a movement in japan to wear cooler...

came home - to moths!
Apparently I brought some moths to melissa’s house when I moved. We’ve spotted a few of these pests flying around in the past few weeks. Lately we’ve noticed a few larvae. I bet she didn’t bargain for insects when she brought me in. It must have been some of the food I brought with me. I’m heading down to the basement now to pitch all old food. That’s the best...

more signs it must be love
I must be in love. even though we each had 24 dollar NYC MTA seven day passes which could have gotten us to LaGuardia, we opted for the driver. the driver, although concenient, also tok the liberty of tipping himself after I gave him two twenties for the fare. I guess its no different than the hot dog guy at the stadium NYC drivers are worse than I imagined. I though we were going to die twice...

the prices are killing me!
yesterday was another fun day. we took a walking tour in china town. I bought a giant almond cookie for 80 cents. I wanted to buy food that had the least risk of making me sick but was also somewhat unique. the cookie fit the bill. we then walked through a giant festival of feasting in little italy. there must have been over two hundred vendors selling the same few staples of sausage and...

scowling ladies and mice
so many good memories yesterday I could write about. one highlight was the ticket seller at the metropolitan museum of modern art. its a donation system with a recommended 20 per person. we got there an hour before closing so I suggested four dollars total. her face was priceless. we found two new mice friends while sitting on the back patio of a pastry shop in brooklyn. they were harmless...

5 flights, a co-op, & bumper beaver
we’re five flights up in a nyc apartment near prospect park. nyc is neat so far. we’ve only been in the city for a few hours. I’m amazed by how beat up car bumpers get with how people park. one car had a “bumper beaver” to block damage. more later. off to see the sights

new york city salsa
new york city! I’ll often think of the pace salsa commercial when I hear New York City. That’s where Melissa and I off to today. I won’t be eating any salsa, but will be taking in the other sights. The only time I’ve been there was in 2000 as part of my High School Senior trip. That doesn’t count. I almost broke the posting streak with getting things set up to take...

get paid to attend a funeral - new scheme
I’m sure this post borders on the edge of tasteless. Oh well! A new money making scheme occurred to me over the past month. I attended a funeral and made $421. How? Send me a check for $10 and I’ll tell you! — intermission Ok, so I didn’t get any checks. I guess this won’t work as a pyramid scheme. I actually did get paid $421 as a result of going to a funeral last...

i am one of 200,000
I’m feeling like just a statistic lately. I was one of 30k at the race on Saturday and one of 200k that took the RTA to work today. I heard an ad on the radio that 200,000 people take the RTA every work day. I figure the RTA probably only serves about 2-3 million people so that’s a pretty amazing percentage. I don’t necessarily buy it though. I don’t get the feeling that 1...

post wedding blues
UGH! Good morning. I should be in bed sleeping. It’s Sunday after all. Not me. In fact, I woke up at 6:30 and went for a ride. I find that I often wake up early after a night of drinking. Not that I drank last night. I was at a wedding with Melissa’s parents after all. I wouldn’t risk making a bad impression by drinking a large part of 64oz of beer while watching the buckeyes...

race for the cure
Ya, you didn’t think I would do it. I’m posting on the weekend! I ran in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure race in Cleveland this morning. It was a quick 5k. I wasn’t expecting to run. It was a last minute decision. My time was 25 minutes but most of that was due to the log jam of other runners. The remaining excess time was due to me stuffing my face with bagels, chips, and...

avoiding the kiss of death
i won’t say it until the end of this post. that’ll solve it. I’m riding the bus to work now. I saw someone reading a book titled something along the lines of “what makes a person black?”. I wonder if I could read that. I also saw a guy reading a Dracula book and a girl reading a romance novel. I was reading the Wall Street Journal. I feel so boring! I’m in grad...
